DESCRIPTION

Need some extra space, or looking for a way to keep small items handy? Look no further. Our detachable X-Pac shoulder strap pockets are the perfect place to keep necessities like sunglasses, phone, snacks, or your car keys. The black mesh pocket on the outside front of the shoulder strap pocket is a great place to store your phone, SPOT, or Snickers Bar without having to unzip the main pocket. There are 2 clips on the back of the pockets which attach to the 3/4 strap that runs up the shoulder straps on ULA packs. If you want to use these on a different pack, you need to have either a narrow strap or a daisy chain running up the strap to be able to attach these pockets. Pockets are sold as singles (one), so if you want a pocket for each strap, be sure to order two. The large size pocket is one inch longer and was made to accommodate larger sized phones. If you have a big phone, and you plan to carry it in your shoulder pocket, be sure to get the large sized pocket!

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING…

This is a well made shoulder strap pocket and, so far, has been quite durable. I have the regular size that I use to store my iPhone 14 and my NITECORE NB10000 battery pack. The mesh pocket holds my iPhone snuggly and the zippered pocket is large enough to hold both the iPhone and battery pack simultaneously. The only caution I will provide about this pocket is that it is water resistant, not waterproof. Although in the product description it’s mentioned that the X-Pac material is waterproof, the pocket construction is not. The seams are bias-bound but do not have waterproof taping so I found that in a consequential rain the pocket will allow water ingress over time. Be aware of this if you’re storing electronics in the pocket during a rain.

I’m using the ULA Shoulder Strap Pocket on my Ohm 2.0 pack. Installation was a piece of cake, build quality and storage capacity (Large size) are impressive. Compared to other shoulder strap pockets I have on other packs this one is much larger and easier to use, I can open the main zippered compartment one-handed. My cell phone (iPhone 11 with case, 3.2″ x 6.1″ x .35″) goes in the front stretchy mesh pocket where it’s held securely yet it’s easy to pull out if I need it, snacks and a bandana in the zippered main compartment and I still have some room to spare. Shipping time was reasonable.

I had purchased this large size shoulder pocket for a CDT pack that had recently arrived. I had asked Chris If he could add a mesh pocket on to the front of it. This brings an added dimension of storage and convenience to the pouch. The hip pockets are a little slight on the pack and the shoulder pouch is a great addition, allowing for some larger items close at hand. The pouch looks well made and very durable, just like the packs. I am glad that Chris was able to add the mesh to the pouch. ULA has always been a pleasure to deal with and their gear has always been fairly bulletproof.

I have two of these, both large. For both of my Circuits. The pouches are nice and larger than I needed for a phone. I found I didn’t like them attached to the shoulder straps. I looked for a way to put them on the side of the pack. Found there is enough room on the hip belt between the pack and hip belt pockets. So if you need a little extra space to keep small items these will fit there. One serves as the first aid kit, the other holds my water treatment. I used a long velcro strap to attach them. So they are removable if needed.

Bought this to add to my Catalyst for an upcoming AT section hike. My iPhone 6 with case, fits easily into the pocket. I will definitely be able to get some other stuff in there as well. It seems well made. The only issue I had, was it was impossible to get the plastic clip through the loop where the D ring is (as explained in the video). There is just not enough slack in the loop to get the head of the clip through, and I felt like I would rip or break something trying to force it through. It is attached to the strap above the D ring and I am sure this will work just as well.

Exactly what I was searching for. My Motorola z3 with Commutor OtterBox and popsocket easily fits. Room for a trail map, id, and chapstick as well. May need another one for glasses/shades. Haven’t attached it to my packs yet but not seeing an issue.

Definitely well-made and good quality. I love having the added space and convenience to my Ohm 2.0. My only question is how water-resistant is the pouch? Is it safe to carry a phone in the pouch without an additional water barrier?

  9. The PDXkid (verified owner)

Well made, heavy duty, padded with fleece liner. This fits my iPhone 6 perfectly with room to spare (snacks, lip balm, etc.) and would likely fit much larger phones very well. It integrates most excellently with my HMG SW 3400 (sorry ULA) and the fabric is a perfect match. Fast shipping (it helps when you’re in the same state). I’ll def. look to ULA for future needs.
